Robby and I have been praying like CRAZY lately about this adoption. I have heard God's voice more times over the past month than I've heard in a long while. Every single day I listen for Him and every single day I hear Him. It is always such a treasure to know that our Creator cares about my needs and my wants- no matter how great or how small.
On Friday Robby and I both came to the conclusion that despite our back up plan to add on a master suite and extra room (for homeschooling) to this house (due to not actually moving out of this place, which was our original plan), God does not, not, not want us to add $30-$40k to our mortgage. It was funny; I was laying in bed Friday morning, and suddenly I felt God impress me with, "Don't spend the money adding more space to your home. BAD idea." When Robby came home I told him, "So I heard God say that we shouldn't add on to the house". His response? "Wow, I heard the exact same thing today, but I was hesitant to tell you because I know how much we both want and need more room". We both immediately accepted it, but we were still pleading with God that we really need the space for another child and for homeschooling. On Saturday we were at Home Depot looking at storage sheds (not to actually buy one, but more or less dreaming of having one to put all the stuff we have piled up in random places throughout this house into, and me thinking of how cool it'd be to use one as a schoolhouse) and this man in a truck pulls up to me and says, "I know this is out of nowhere, but I can't let you buy one of these buildings because they're such a rip off. I was walking around here looking at these just a few weeks ago, but then I drove to a place down the road and bought a beautiful building for such a better deal!" He told me all about it and I took note. I then passed the info onto Robby and we decided to drive down to said business and take a gander. Well guess what? We bought one! We felt 100% that God was urging us to do so to take care of our issue with lack of space. These buildings are made by Mennonites in Arkansas, they guarantee their work, the price was EXCELLENT because we bought a repo, plus we got in on a wonderful sale. There is room for all of the items we need to store (in the double loft) and plenty of space to use as my schoolhouse! We plan to run electricity out to it, add a couple of cute chairs to the adorable little porch, and make it quite cozy. I am super thrilled!

Robby and I have been sending fervent prayers up to the Lord about paying for this adoption. We are counting our pennies to bring home our child from Uganda in a timely manner. We aren't doing any frivolous spending and we're not going into debt during this process. We feel that God is telling us to take one payment at a time and not to concern ourselves with tomorrow, but instead to trust that He will take care of the need in His timing. That, of course, is easier said than done. But we're trying! I, personally, am stepping out in faith like I haven't done in years and I keep saying to Jesus, "You brought us to this journey and I'm counting on YOU to see us through every obstacle". This adoption will cost way more money than Robby and I have at any one time, but I know that my God owns the cattle on a thousand hills and He will make a way time and time again. Today we were able, praise Jesus, to make our first payment to the adoption agency. That was a good feeling! One down, many more to go!
Amen! It's awesome that God is making a way for you despite what we see as "obstacles". He is the man with the plan! We've also talked about getting a shed similar to that for the same reasons. We don't have room in the house for a dedicated school space but we would really like one. So glad to know God is blessing your family!!
