Well, we're selling our house! It happened all of a sudden, almost without warning. Robby and I have been where we are for three years now and we have completely outgrown our 1653 SQFT house on 3.1 acres. We love it here, but we're bursting at the seams. Not to mention that once we have another child, there'll be nowhere to put him/her! And we definitely plan to have a few more children. So, we've been lightly talking about moving sometime in the semi-near future (later in the year, next year maybe). On Saturday we were out at a horse farm for a birthday party (so fun!) and while we were making the trek back home the long way, we were talking about how beautiful and quiet it was in that area. (To give you an idea of what I'm saying; Robby and I already live out in the country- we often hear from people, "Oh, so y'all live way out there!"-, but back where we were driving was even farther.) We were talking about how we'd love living out there and we should look for a house in that direction when we decide it's officially moving time. Well low and behold the following day Robby was browsing through the newspaper and saw a listing for a house with acreage in that exact area that's within our price range. So I called Denise (our friend/realtor) and told her we wanted to see it. We went yesterday evening, toured the house, and talked with the owners in length. WE LOVE IT! Here's the skinny:
All of that for a low price that we can afford! But there are cons, too. Those are:
All in all, it's so much of what we need/want for a price that is realistic for us. We're going to make an offer very soon, but with the stipulation that we have to sell our current house first. We're trying to very, very quickly get this house listed by Sunday! Crazy, I know. But it will be so worth it if we can get the house we want. Please say a prayer for us that both sales happen smoothly and swiftly!
- 2700 SQFT, two stories
- 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
- HUGE bonus room on second story with sun deck
- Gorgeous wrap around deck with two porch swings (!!!)
- 8.5 acres
- The most charming little creek running across the property with a small pond
- Two detached buildings, both BIG (one that I could use as a school house, one that Robby could use as a workshop)
All of that for a low price that we can afford! But there are cons, too. Those are:
- Pretty much zero cell phone service (landline, here I come!).
- No DSL/Cable internet. Would have to pay for pricey satellite 'net.
- The house was built in the 80s and, wow, that is obvious from the inside! Needs almost a complete remodeling (ugliest carpet I've ever laid my eyes on and it is everywhere).
- The drive is not ideal. We estimate that it'll take Robby 45-50 minutes to get to/from work. Ick.
