A big change in adoptions!

I found out some rather big news yesterday regarding the Latin American (LA) adoption program. Our contact in LA informed me via email that there is now a brand new Director of Adoptions! I say this so enthusiastically because this alone has the potential to dramatically change the course of our case. Obviously, a new director doesn't guarantee anything, but this is a significant change within DGA and it can mean something really, really good for our family. The new Director is an attorney who has worked in the past for a major organization that is directly related to the adoption program and whose sole purpose is to fight for the rights of women and children in LA. I've heard that she truly has a heart for orphans and I certainly hope that is accurate because it's exactly what is needed. DGA is a panel of "experts" (a psychologist, doctor, etc) who make the decisions together at each consejo (the monthly matching meeting between families who are looking to adopt and orphaned children), but the Director has the final say-so on the matches. Let me brief you on another reason why a new director excites me...

My very best friend Calley and her husband Danny adopted a little girl from LA- their first adoption- a few years ago. Much like ours, their process was far from a piece of cake and right at the end of their journey they were denied their request to adopt a specific child that they strongly felt God had placed on their hearts. They, too, contested DGA's decision and just as they did, a new Director of Adoptions came onto the scene. You can guess the rest... they ultimately were approved! Their daughter, Camila, is now home and is thriving with her family.

I know better than to think that a human being of any sort is going to be the key to our adoption success, however it is fresh hope. I will take that any day!

I can't thank y'all enough for your prayers. Prayer truly changes things and we are so grateful for each and every one.

  1. I think we are at almost the same timeline in our adoption process:). Its great to hear!! We are also documenting ours via blog and we seem to have had the same roadblocks and recent heartaches. Waiting for the rainbow at the end of the storm:).
