Why we weren't matched.

Our contact in Latin America was able to schedule a meeting with the head of DGA yesterday afternoon and it was then that we discovered why we weren't matched at the May consejo. Before I state the reason, let me remind you that consejos are matching meetings (meetings where families are presented with the child(ren) they have asked to adopt) held at the end of each month. These consejos consist of a panel of people, such as a couple of members of DGA, a psychologist, doctor, etc. All of these people get together and examine each family and child and decide if they feel that a match between the two is, in their "expert" opinions, a good idea. Our contact was told that at May's consejo DGA presented us to the panel and discussed our family/Lene for quite some time. There was some concern from someone that because we already have six children, and because Lene has special needs, we might not be a good fit. They decided to put a "pause" on our request and come back to it later. Our contact was told that DGA plans to further discuss our family/Lene in the coming days and decide if they want to continue with presenting us again at June's consejo. We are supposed to receive a letter stating their intent to or not to move forward with our case.

If this sounds alarming, don't worry; DGA has not given us a "no". Even if they did decide not to move forward and try again, we are allowed to contest it. Our adoption agency has backed three families in the past who chose to contest a "no" decision and two out of three of those cases resulted in success. While this is not the news we wanted to hear, we are still holding fast to what God has told us is true. At this time we are asking for prayer for any hearts that are not for our adoption of Lene to be changed. Our hope is for DGA to decide to try our case again at June's consejo in just a couple of weeks and that we will then be matched with Lene once and for all.

Thank you for your prayers and support. We love y'all.
As soon as there is more to know, I will update the blog.
