I've been waiting and waiting to post a full on blog entry, however I have come to the conclusion that that might not happen anytime soon like I'd hoped. So, for now, I want to focus solely on updating family, friends, and followers as to where we are in the adoption process.
In my last update we had just answered an additional dozen questions that DGA (the Latin American adoption authorities) asked us after we'd mailed them our dossier. We had to include our psychologist and have him write an additional report regarding those questions. We were hoping that DGA would come back and approve us and not ask for yet more information (I couldn't imagine there was anything else about our lives that we didn't already cover!), buuuuuut they did. More questions, another report from our psychologist, etc. We finished that up quickly and sent them to be translated, etc, and then handed over to DGA. That was a few weeks ago and we have been waiting to hear back yet again. Well, on Thursday afternoon I received a phone call from our adoption agency saying that they'd received word from DGA and they wanted one more thing from us. No, I'm not kidding. I'm really not. The good news is that it didn't involve our psychologist. Whew. DGA asked us to put in writing that both Robby and I would commit to staying the entire time in Latin America (LA) until the adoption is finalized (4-6 weeks). Typically one spouse is allowed to return to their home after a couple of weeks in LA while the other spouse stays in country to finish things up, but DGA insists that Robby and I are both there until it is finalized. We wrote and signed a letter stating that we are committed to doing as they wish and Robby overnighted it to our agency the next day. We were informed that May's consejo (DGA's monthly meeting to "match" children with families who have requested to adopt them) is going to be this coming Thursday or Friday and that we have a good chance of being included in that meeting! In case some of you don't know, we are not officially matched with Lene, specifically. We have been approved to adopt from LA, but we have not been given permission to adopt her. Yet. That is why we are very, very, VERY much looking forward to May's consejo results (they are usually posted on DGA's website a few days after the meeting takes place). Once we are matched... GET THIS Y'ALL... we wait for permission to travel! That means if we are matched with Lene this month, we will leave for LA in a matter of weeks! I just about cannot stand it. I am so so so ready!
Because Robby is required to stay the entire 4-6 weeks in Latin America with me, we have to make up for his paychecks. That's a bummer. However we are so grateful that his employer is super supportive of our adoption and the exhausting process it requires. The time off isn't an issue what so ever, which is magical. As for the money for bills, I am believing that our grants will cover it. In Jesus' name.
The next week and a half is going to have me on the edge of my seat waiting for the consejo results! EEEEK!

Wow how super exciting! I'd be riddled with anxiety I'm sure of it! What a long process, but God has his timing in all things even the adoption process! Prayers for a smooth trip when you go:-)
