I have been in tears all day! God is doing some absolutely incredible things on behalf of our waiting daughter in Latin America. I am completely blown away at how fast this has all been coming together.
Some might say that Robby and I are at a loss when it comes to fundraising ability. When we moved up to North Arkansas in October 2012 we left behind all of our family and friends in and around Little Rock. We came here knowing no one. In order to raise funds for such an expensive cause like adoption, it's important that you're surrounded with a community that knows and loves you. We simply don't have that here. When we began this process, we realized that we were going to have to be fully reliant on God.
I was recently browsing online for ideas to come up with some significant money. I found a post about a silent adoption auction/dinner that someone had hosted that turned out to be quite successful. I spoke with my friend Melissa on Sunday night and together we began to plan a similar function for late July down in the Little Rock area. We've been asking businesses in central Arkansas and talented family and friends if they would like to donate items for the auction. Let me just tell y'all... in the span of less than two days we have received an overwhelming response! We want to make this auction a huge success and it is definitely turning out that way!
First, my dear friend Denise has offered to let us hold the auction at her big, new, gorgeous house. Location was such a biggie, but now that's taken care of! We have also received the following auction donations:
- Artist Brandon Waggoner has donated a painting
- My friend Anna has donated a quilt (check out this stunning chevron rainbow quilt she made!)
- Melissa Ibbotson has donated a Jamberry Nails basket
- Melissa's sister Melony has donated an Arkansas Razorbacks painting (woo pig sooie!)
- The Handmaid Workshop has donated a lovely infinity scarf and handmade jewelry
- Thirty-One consultants Amber Cochran and Katherine King have donated goodies
- Bristen Musteen has donated a basket of all natural, homemade body products
- Roeh Photography has donated a full photo session (valued at $199!)
- Chick-fil-A in Bryant, AR has offered a donation
- Classy Cakes by Michelle has donated a basket of baked goods
- Brooke Cook from Lucky Bella Tattoo Studio has donated artwork
- Underground Exchange has offered to donate items from their trendy shop
- Noonday Collection Ambassador Ashley Gunter has donated jewelry
- EMJ Fotografi has donated a print
- Danielle Bratton has donated some hair bows/hair pieces from her upcoming online store
- Hopper Graphics has donated a $250 gift certificate
- Little Knit Knacks has donated some beautiful knits
The list keeps growing!
And my good friend Nicole is heading up a fundraiser on our behalf with a few local businesses over in Bentonville next month!
And and and this past weekend alone we received monetary donations of $620.00 from some beautiful people! Additionally, my friend Kristin Swaim of Mountain Life Nails has offered to host an online Jamberry Nails party and donate all of her commission to us. Talk about sweet!
God is taking care of this. HE is doing it! We are well on our way to having this $40,000 collected and ready to be used on behalf of our precious daughter. I am indescribably grateful to each and every person and business who has chosen to help us. This is a perfect scenario of how God will stir the hearts of many of His people to rally around one lonely, family-less child oceans away. I am humbled and I am in awe.
Glory be to such a loving Provider.
