VBAC Success

I had the amazing opportunity to witness an incredible VBAC success on Monday! 3.5 years ago this super strong mama was pregnant with her first child and was hoping for a homebirth with midwife in attendance. After days of labor and malpositioning of the baby, she ended up with a c-section. This traumatized her for future birth. When she became pregnant again late last Spring, she weighed her options and decided to go for a natural VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) in the hospital. After much planning and preparation, she saw her dream come true! On Valentine's Day, her sweet second daughter was born healthy after mama fought long and hard to bring her safely into the world. It was a heavy personal battle for her both physically and mentally, and with what appeared to be some urgency at the end (in hindsight, her circumstances were considered "normal"), but it was a battle WON! I was very blessed to have witnessed this birth and assisted this mama in reaching her ultimate of birth goals. The photo above is of her newborn daughter, Nora, taken when she was just minutes old.
