It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Christmas isn't far away (9 days to go!) and the hustle and bustle of the holidays are keeping us all busy. Christmas shopping is finished, except for some stocking stuffers. Of course, we mostly shop for the kids because we make baskets of homemade food (jelly, bread, cookies, candied nuts, cakes, etc.) for our friends and family in order to keep costs down, but it still seemed to take longer this year to finish up than in years past. For the kids this year we're keeping it simple with Want, Need, Wear, Read. It has made things much easier! I am not into the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on children (or anyone, for that matter) at Christmas and Robby and I feel that we've discovered a great balance with the above guideline. I'm looking forward to making it a yearly tradition from here on out.

I am 12.5 weeks pregnant and about to enter the second trimester in a matter of days. I'm certainly ready to be done with the serious lack of energy I've experienced in recent weeks. Not to mention the insane mood swings I've had! Poor Robby, poor kidlets. I can't remember ever feeling so psychotic during any of my other pregnancies. I might have with Ireland (it's hard to recall that far back), but definitely not with the boys. I just want to be normal again! Thankfully I have a very patient husband who delights in taking care of me, despite the difficulty of just being in the same room with me some days. God bless him. I should be going for my first homebirth risk assessment in January with a health care provider, then I'll see my midwife for the first time in February. She lives an hour away from me, so she tries to keep me from having to make the long drive as little as possible. I'll probably be around 20 weeks by the time we meet up. And because I most likely will not have an ultrasound ordered for me by my midwife, Robby and I have decided to have an elective one done in January. I believe I'm going to schedule it for 17 weeks. We're definitely excited about that.

Ireland started SEEK the first week of December and she absolutely LOVES it. She attends one day per week, for 12 weeks, from 9:00 am - 2:30 pm. She's making plenty of friends, having a grand ol time hiking with her class weekly, and is really learning a great deal about science. Her excitement makes me excited and I look forward to sending Jasper when he's in the 1st grade. I feel bad when he's left out because he and Ireland are complete BFFs, but I know it's a needed reality check for all children to know that we can't always do the same things as everyone else/our turn will come in time. Homeschooling is going well. Ireland is thisclose to completing half of the first year's worth of school work and sending it in to her academic advisor. Another week- two at the very most- and we'll be mailing it off. She loves her PACEs and I can't wait to get Jasper started on them for Kindergarten!

Amos is teething like mad right now. He got his very first tooth just a few weeks ago (he's 15 months old) and since then one more has popped through. Well it appears that another one (or two) is on it's way out and he is having a hard time with it. :( Last night he was literally awake from 1:30-4:30 screaming off and on. I felt so bad for him. Finally I gave him Tylenol and once it kicked in he zonked out and slept in pretty late. I'm hoping tonight is far better. The sweet little thing is walking now, granted he still mostly prefers crawling because it's much faster. ;) But he's getting better every day and is as cute as a button stumbling around. My sweet baby is growing up and it's incredibly bittersweet for his Mama. I love him.
